SINPAIN @ European Researchers Night 2024
On 27 September 2024, Europe celebrated science with the European Researchers Night. Universities and research institutions open their doors to the public and allow a glimpse into their work. The event attracts over 1.5 million visitors across Europe and beyond.
This year, SINPAIN had the opportunity to participate with two institutions!
The Neuro & Skeletal Circuits group (NeSk) of i3S offered a variety of fun activities to engage actively with their visitors:
- A TV displaying the SINPAIN video clip
- A microscope with a monitor to view cartilage samples
- A quiz about SINPAN and osteoarthritis They even had little gifts made with a 3D printer!
Their “box” saw over 100 visitors including children and students from elementary school to university level, researchers from other institutions and the general public.
The Institute of Biomedical and Neural Engineering (IBNE) of Reykjavik University presented several projects and activities. SINPAIN was one of them. They had a poster and showed the SINPAIN video in loop, thus offering visitors the opportunity to ask about the research anytime they passed by. In addition, they actively engaged with the youngest visitors and showed some children how to segment bones and create a 3D knee model with their software.
Their audience included mostly families with children and researchers from other institutions.
The European Researchers Night is a unique event bridging the gap between science and society. We are glad that SINPAIN could be part of it!
